Alizé (reactor)

The Alizé reactor was a "critical mockup" type nuclear research reactor at the CEA Saclay Center, which diverged in June 1959.

According to sources, it was based on natural uranium moderated by heavy water or with 2.2 tonnes of 1.5% enriched uranium oxide rods, moderated with light water

In 1959, Alizé underwent a power excursion, during which four people present at a distance of 2 to 3 m from the heart, are exposed to a radioactive dose of about 2 centiGray.

On March 15, 1960, an operator made the total removal of an absorbent bar, instead of a partial withdrawal, which led to a criticality accident without anyone being irradiated. Notes and edit the code
