Bus Station (Belo Horizonte Metro)

The Rodoviária Station is a project of Line 1 of the Belo Horizonte Metro. It consists of the implantation of an integrated Metro Station to the new bus terminal in Belo Horizonte, in the vicinity of the Calafate neighborhood. History

The Prefecture of Belo Horizonte, in 2005, launched the project to transfer the bus terminal from the city of the Center to another region, reducing the flow of vehicles, buses and people around the Av. Contorno, Santos Dumont and Afonso Pena. The place chosen was the Calafate neighborhood, and for greater accessibility to the place, the CBTU created the project of a Line 1 Station of the Belo Horizonte Metro that would be integrated into the new terminal. In addition to this, the new Terminal would benefit from the Calafate - Barreiro branch of Line 2 of the Belo Horizonte Metro, which would be implemented. Currently

In 2009, the Prefecture decided to change the construction site of the New Belo Horizonte terminal to the São Gabriel neighborhood in the northeast region. The claim of the prefecture is that the previously chosen place was already with saturated mobility and the implantation of a transport terminal in the place would increase the problems of transit and transport of the region. The chosen place presents greater urban mobility and is more accessible to the transport ring, which gives access and exit from Belo Horizonte to other regions of the state. The current project, in the Calafate neighborhood, has no forecast of completion, and will probably be canceled.
