Central nuclear de St. Lucie


The St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant is located on Hutchinson Island, Fla., near Ft. Pierce in St. Lucie County. It consists of two pressure water reactors from Combustion Engineering. Florida Power & amp; Light took over the facility in 1976 and remains the owner and operator of the station.

In 2003, the NRC extended the operating authorizations of St. Lucie units for twenty years, until March 1, 2036 for unit 1 and until April 6, 2043 for unit 2 [1] .
