Galgenweel


The Galgenweel is the largest semi-natural brackish lake in Flanders.

The lake is about 40 ha in size. It is located on Left Bank in Antwerp. The depth ranges from 2 to 15 meters, and has a shore length of 3500 meters. Especially known for sailing in small boats and angling. It is home to various sailing clubs with activities such as sailing schools, competitions and recreation. The lake has emerged after a dike breakthrough and connects to the Zeeschelde via a lock so that it can remain a brackish plasma.
