Ethylene-propylene-diene rubber

EPDM waterproofing sheet.

Ethylene propylene diene rubber or EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene type M ASTM) is an elastomeric thermo-polymer having good abrasion and wear resistance. The composition of this material contains between 45% and 75% of ethylene, being generally more resistant the higher this percentage.

It has good properties as electrical insulation, a very good resistance to atmospheric agents, acids and alkalis, and to chemicals in general, being susceptible to attack by oils and oils. The working temperature ranges from -40 to 140 ° C.

It is obtained as a third monomer, and is especially useful for sealing phosphate ester hydraulic fluids, and in braking systems using glycol based liquids. It is also used in the sealing of joints in automobiles, and as a waterproofing sheet of roofing in the building.
