Ilie Birt is a legendary character who was part of Braşov juni.

He is, according to Vasile Oltean, a son of a shepherd born in 1698. It is not known where he could become so cultured, but it is said that he spoke in addition to Romanian, Hungarian, Greek, and Turkish. letters even in German. Because of this, the juni used it as permanent delegate in Vienna, Buda, Cluj and other cities of the country and the world. He signed "captain" just to win in front of the authorities. In 1737, he even created a company composed largely of juni and under the direct direction of the supreme commander of the Austrian army which enabled him to win a great battle against the Turks. Ilie Birt was also responsible for the good functioning of the Braşov church as well as the school.

It is celebrated on May 16 by sharing a cake made of coffee and almond powder, which according to legend, brings knowledge and happiness for the year.
