The Gamle Bybro (Old Town Bridge in Norwegian) is a bridge in the city of Trondheim (Norway), crossing the Nidelva and connecting the city center to the Bakklandet district. Descriptionmodifier le code

The bridge was built in 1681-1685 by Johan Caspar von Cicignon, commissioned by King Christian V of Denmark to rebuild the city ravaged by a fire in 1681. Originally, the Gamle Bybro was wooden and supported by three pillars of stones. An iron gate was erected in the middle and the bridge was guarded at both ends until 1816. Rebuilt in 1861 by Carl Adolf Dahl, it is 82 m long. It is pedestrianized during the summer. change the code edit code
