Shield of Las Palmas.

The current version of the coat of arms of the Province of Las Palmas (Canary Islands, Spain) has the following heraldic description:

In a cut field (divided horizontally), and the first quartel divided into two sub-chapels of gules, a castle of crenellated gold of three battlements, mottled of sable (black) and clarified of azur; of silver, a lion rampant of purple, flounder, nail and armed of gules, crowned of gold. In the second barracks, of azur, three silver islands placed one and two.

The ring royal crown closed, which is a circle of gold, set with precious stones, composed of eight florets of acanthus leaves, visible five, interpolated of pearls and whose leaves come diademas joined with pearls, which converge in the world of azure or blue, with the semimeridian and the equator in gold, plus gold cross. The crown lined with gules or red.

The first sub-collection includes the elements of the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Castile, represented by the golden castle and the second, the arms of the Kingdom of Leon, represented by the rampant lion.

The three islands on the shield represent Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote which are the major islands of the province.
