The Symphonic Variations are a youthful work written by Witold Lutosławski between 1936 and 1938.

They have a ten-measure theme, seven variations and a final. Its execution time is about ten minutes. The variations are essentially a work on the orchestral color. We find the influence of Igor Stravinski but also that of Karol Szymanowski, confessed by the young composer.

They were premiered on 17 June 1939 by the Polish Symphony Radio Orchestra under the direction of Grzegorz Fitelberg. Notes and edit the code
