Golf Club The Margraten Empire

Golf Club The Kingdom of Margraten is a Dutch golf club in Cadier and Keer in South Limburg. A small part of the same golf course is located on the territory of the municipality of Maastricht.

Golf course The Margraten Empire is located partly on the slope of the Keerderberg, partly on the edge of the Margraten plateau. The golf course is typical of Limburg because it lies in the hilly landscape between the Meuse valley and the hilly Mergelland. From the golf course, the player has views of Maastricht and the Maasdal. The job looks mature with its old trees. On some holes are old high-stem fruit trees.

The job was created on the initiative of former owner Henri H.J. van Muyden and was opened in November 2004. This was preceded by an archaeological research by the RAAP Archaeological Advisory Board in connection with the presence in the remains of the Roman villa Backerbosch. In September 2005, the job - with "qualifying conditions" - was sold to Het Rijk Golfbanen, a company that had all the Empire of Nijmegen, 't Sybrook and De Verwaeyde Sandbergen in her portfolio.

In June 2006, Mayor Harrie van Beers, together with initiator Van Muyden, made the first stone for a new clubhouse, opened in October 2006 by Léon Frissen, Commissioner of the Queen in Limburg. The Kingdom of Margraten also got the club A status of the Dutch Gulf Federation at that time.
