Adam Darr

Adam Darr (1811, Schweinfurt, Germany, - Augsburg, 1866) was a German guitarist, singer, composer and zitherer.

Adam Darr began at the age of 18 his musical activities playing and touring for the royal European courts. At the end of his tour of Russia he settled in St. Petersburg to teach music and give recitals. After three years he returned to his position in Wurzburg. By then he played with Frederick Brand, forming a duet of guitars that played in Germany and would last until his death.

He composed several pieces for guitar and a method for zithar. There are publications of his music for guitar duos numbered from I to XII, and afre (sic); two appear in the XIV-a and XIV-b, but not the XIII. This situation is probably due to an error in numbering works not yet prepared for editing. An exhaustive list of some of his published works can be found on the Boije Collection website, including: Works
