Bodega De Posthoorn

The Posthoorn (winter) Queen Wilhelmina leaves the Posthoorn, 1914

Bodega De Posthoorn is the oldest bodega in The Hague and is located on the short side of the Lange Voorhout. The bodega is frequented by artists, politicians and the flags of The Hague. History

The original Posthoorn was at the Smidswater, now the US Embassy. The bombardment was destroyed on March 3, 1945 at the bombing on the Bezuidenhout, and moved to Lange Voorhout in 1946. This property was previously a Mercedes-Benz showroom, but it was built as a coach house. In the Posthoorn hangs a picture on which the house has black painted wooden carriage doors. Underground escape routes from the Lange Voorhout Palace and from the Binnenhof under the Hofvijver to the coachyard. They have been sealed for years.

To those who visited the bodega, Queen Wilhelmina belonged. Regularly she left the Lange Voorhout from her palace for a visit to the bodega. Inside, a photo hangs out with her company, the Posthoorn.

Between 1950 and 1962, next to the Bodega Galerie De Posthoorn was located, the exhibition hall of the Posthoorn group.

The owner since 1934, Jan Knijnenburg, sold the Posthoorn to the Meeuwisse family in 1971. To the old-fashioned appearance of the establishment, the current owner Michael Meeuwisse wants to change nothing, at the request of his customers. Externe link 52° 4′ 56″ NB, 4° 18′ 48″ OL
