Hand play

An example of a children's hand game, American illustration (circa 1920).

A hand game is a cooperative game in which at least two players clap their hands while singing a ritornello or childish song. This type of game is very common in schoolyards.

Due to the use of communication and motor coordination, simple hand games are appropriate for children 24 months and older. In many cultures hand games are for both sexes and all ages but in predominantly European cultures or influenced by Europe, the use is geared towards girls.
