Lagos (Macedonian general)

For homonymous articles, see Lagos (disambiguation).

Lagos (in ancient Greek Λαγός / Lagós) is the father, or supposed father, of Ptolemy I Soter. He is the founder of the Lagides dynasty (the name of the dynasty comes from his surname).

He is married to Arsinoe, a concubine of Philip II, king of Macedonia and father of Alexander the Great. According to Pausanias, the Macedonians claim that Arsinoe is already pregnant with Philip at the time of his marriage to Lagos. They consider Ptolemy as the half-brother of Alexander. It is possible, however, that this is a myth intended to grow the image of the Ptolemaic dynasty. Lagos seems to have been married later to Antipater's niece Antigone, whose daughter Berenice is the fourth wife of his half-brother Ptolemy. Noteschange the code code
