Paddington Railway Accident 1999


The Ladbroke Grove Railroad Crash was an event that took place on 5 October 1999 in Ladbroke Grove, London, England, where 31 people died and more than 520 were injured in a train crash in signage becoming the worst disaster of the British railways. According to investigations, the ATP could have prevented the fatal outcome, but a failure in the system made the accident inevitable. This incident caused public distrust in the British system of British railways.

Lord Cullen, opened an investigation to clarify what happened. The clash between trains from Paddington Station and Southall reopened the debate over the utility of ATP, which was confirmed to be faulty.
