Van Sprang (planetoid)

(3098) by Sprang is a small planetoid in the planetoid girdle between the planets Mars and Jupiter discovered on September 24, 1960 by the Dutch research team Cornelis Johannes van Houten, Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld and Tom Gehrels. The small planetoid has an elliptic orbit around the sun (Perihelium = 1,8163, Aphelium = 2,7889, Eccentricity = 0.22112) and a circulation time of 3,449 years. With an absolute magnitude of 14,502, the planetoid can only be detected by large telescopes.

The name of the planetoid was given in honor of the founder of the Youth Work Group for Astronomy Bert van Sprang. Externe link Also see
