Court of Appeal

An appellate court or court of appeal is a court of law that has jurisdiction to hear appeals lodged against judicial decisions of a lower court.

In most legal systems, judicial systems are structured in two instances: a first instance assigned to lower courts or lower courts (courts of first instance), which hear and resolve cases, and a second corresponding to courts superiors, in charge of hearing appeals against the judgments of the former, with the aim of amending, in accordance with law, as the case may be, said resolutions; in addition, they also generally contemplate a court or supreme court in charge of hearing appeals of cassation or nullity against judgments of the courts of appeals.
