National Institute of Housing and Urbanism

The National Institute of Housing and Urban Development is an autonomous Costa Rican institution, created by Law No. 2760 on June 16, 1961. Its functions include providing affordable housing to the Costa Rican population, eliminating settlements that are considered dangerous or unhealthy and relocate its population in more appropriate places, as well as promote the creation of residential and urbanization. INVU issues "housing bonds" for low-income and middle-class families so that they can build homes and create various socially-oriented urban projects.
