Plaza of the Constitution (Huancayo)

For other uses of this term see Plaza de la Constitución.

The Constitution Square of Huancayo (Peru), is one of the two main squares that this city has along with the Huamanmarca Park. Previously it was called Plaza del Comercio but its name was changed after the swearing in of the "Liberal Constitution of Cádiz" in 1813 by the Huancaíno people.

Currently, it continues to be the commercial center of the city, being surrounded by different commercial establishments including restaurants and hotels, as well as the Casa del Artesano, which is a center selling handicrafts.

However, the main buildings are the Huancayo cathedral, the Nuestra Señora del Valle theater and the offices of the Archbishop of Huancayo.
