Royal Opera (Stockholm)

The royal opera in Stockholm.

The Royal Opera (Swedish: Kungliga Operan) is the national stage for opera and ballet of Sweden. The building is located in central Stockholm, in the Norrmalm district. About 60% of the performances are opera, and 40% ballet.

The building was opened by King Gustaaf III of Sweden and on January 18, 1773, the first operastuk was performed (the first operating piece ever in Swedish).

The building is a magnum opus of Swedish architect Carl Fredrik Adelcrantz (1716-1796). Externe link 59° 19′ 47″ NB, 18° 4′ 14″ OL
