Permanently Lyon

Constantius of Lyon (ca. 420-430; † c. 494) was a reasoning poet and priest in the 5th century.

Although it is known that he came from a noble family, little is known about his life. Even his birthday is not known. Still, it is certain he was old and weak when he started his studies in 480 in 480, the Vita Sancti Germani. Hence, it is probable that he was born somewhere between 420-430. It is also unclear whether he was also born in Lyon. Only an encounter with Patience, the then bishop of Lyon, has been demonstrated.

In Lyon, or in another city nearby, he began his work: the hagiography of Germanus of Auxerre. His book was completed for the year 494 and describes the life of the bishop in Gallia in the second half of the 5th century. However, this book does not contain any years, almost place names or information about other details or personal information. Externe link
