Robert, Duke of Chartres

Robert Philiipe Louis Eugene Ferdinand of Bourbon-Orleans, Duke of Chartres (Paris, November 9, 1840 - Saint-Firmin, December 5, 1910) was a French prince from the Bourbon-Orleans home.

He was a son of Ferdinand Filips of Orléans and Helena of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. His father died already after an accident with his carriage when he was only two years old. During the American Civil War, Robert fought alongside the northern states. In 1870 he participated in the Franco-German War.

In 1863 he married his great niece Françoise van Orléans, a daughter of Frans van Orléans and Francisca Caroline of Portugal.
