President Roosevelt signs the law
The Social Security Act (SSA) is a 1935 American law established under the auspices of Roosevelt.
In 1935, Roosevelt laid the basis of the welfare state in the US with this law. In the area of social legislation, the US had a major backlog in relation to Europe. This social security act began to insure employees against health and unemployment. The pension benefit was also introduced. Health care was also expanded: "The government has ultimate responsibility for the well-being of its citizens," said Roosevelt. He also said, "From the day he is born, every child belongs to this system of social security." In 1935, however, the SSa did not yet work for groups like land workers and domestic staff. Nevertheless, it was one of the most important, if not the most important, acts of the New Deal, as it gave many poor social security.
