Tsjita (river)

The Tsjita (Russian: Чита), commonly called Tsjinkinka (Russian: Читинка), is a river in the southwest of former Russian oblast, Tsjita, now the kraj Zabajkalski. The river is formed in the Jablonovy Mountains and flows out to the southwest of the south along a length of about 160 kilometers to express itself in the same name of Tsjita in the Ingoda River.

The river is heavily polluted, mainly due to discharges in the city of Chad. In the years following the fall of the Soviet Union, it was actively built on many holiday resorts. These and other developments caused the river to become much narrower and the water level has risen sharply. As a result, the likelihood of flooding in spring has become much larger.
