Union of Clubs for the Renewal of the Left

The Union of Clubs pour Renouveau de la Gauche was a French political club founded in the 1960s with the aim of socialist renewal. The French Social Democracy underwent a real crisis in the 1960s and many socialists were dissatisfied with the traditional socialist party SFIO. The creation of socialist clubs had to boost socialism.

The UCRG was in fact a merger of Alain Savary's Convention Socialism (formerly the SFIO and then the PSU) and the club Socialism Modern of Pierre Bérégovoy (formerly a member of the SFIO and the PSU). Savary gold as the foreman of the UCRG. The UCRG was a member of the Federation of the Left Democrats and Socialists. In 1969, the UCRG participated in the founding congress of the Party Socialist (PS) who replaced the old socialist parties and parties. Savary was the first Secretary General of the PS until 1971.
