Ambush

For other uses, see Ambush (disambiguation). Ambush

An ambush is a military tactic consisting of a violent and surprising attack on an enemy element that is in movement or occupying a position of temporary way.

It can also refer to the homologous hunting system, used in the animal kingdom by some predators.

In some cultures, the ambush usually responds to sexual strategies in which the male dominates superlatively to the female, subjecting it in an exhaustive way. An age-old tactic

The ambush is a very old technique. Thus the Romans had to learn new forms of struggle and uniformity to face the attacks of indigenous people like Viriato. Later, the frequent use of this tactic deprived Spain of most of its forests because, during the Muslim Invasion, they were burned to force the enemy out into the open. Subsequently, the invention of explosives gave a new character to this technique by conferring on small and not very numerous units the power to destroy entire columns, even armored, in small but ferocious skirmishes. Thus the Afghans were able to end a whole British army, hitherto undefeated, as it passed through a gorge on the way to Jalalabad during the nineteenth century. Bibliography
