Literariteit

Literacy is an indication that a particular feature of speech communication (in texts, but also in oral language exchanges) is referred to, namely the literary nature of speech communication. This refers to a complex aspect of language, that aspect distinguishes itself from other aspects (such as appealing, communicative, etc.) because it does not refer to something beyond the language, but with which the language focuses on itself. Literature is therefore directly related to the specific form of speech communication, with the sound, with the particular way in which words begin to make the imagination, etc.

The term was first used in 1921 by Russian literature scholar Roman Jakobson (his text, "Linguistics and Poetics" is found in Dutch in the Textbook of Literary Literature, 1977, pp. 96-106).

Literacy is usually a feature of literature but may not be equated to literature. Indeed, there is a language that is not counted on literature, but has an aspect of literacy - one thinks of the striking strokes often used in advertising. On the other hand, there are also forms of linguistic expressions that do not directly have an aspect of literacy, but which in some times or in some places are indeed included in the literature.
