NGC 3584

NGC 3584 (also called NGC 3576, NGC 3579, NGC 3581, NGC 3582, or NGC 3586) is a minor nebula located in the Sagittarius Arm of our galaxy a few thousand light-years away from the η Carinae Nebula. When John Herschel discovered this nebula in 1834 he could only see the bright parts of a nebula so at that time he received six different numbers of classification.

Argentine astrophotographer Claudio Pietrasanta, a member of the Argentine Friends of Astronomy Association, has taken numerous photographs of this object, some of which illustrate important astronomical journals.
