water Cutiliæ

Aquae Cutiliae is a mineral water source in Italy, near the present town of Cittaducale, 9 miles east of Rieti. The nearby lake has been considered by classical writers as the central point of Italy. The lake was famous for its floating islands, which as in other cases, are formed by the partial petrification of plants by the mineral substances contained in the water. There are still remains of the baths that existed, and to which Roman emperors, such as Vespasian and Titus, who both died in the place, attended in the last stage of their life.

His name appears on the Peutinger Mesa as Aqve cvtillie.
