Dinomitosis

Dinomitosis is a type of cell division that only occurs in the class Dinophyceae, a class of algae with chlorophyll c.

Dynomitosis is special because the nuclear membrane never disappears. A series of clusters of microtubules cross the nucleus through the cytoplasmic channels, where it joins the chromosomes, which will be displaced towards each daughter cell. As this occurs, the nuclear membrane suffers a strangulation until two nuclei are formed with the same number of chromosomes each. Once this process is completed, cytokinesis occurs.
