Dougall "Doug" Livingstone (Alexandria, February 25, 1898 - Marlow, January 15, 1981) was a Scottish footballer and football coach. He was a coach of Ireland and the Belgian football team. Career
Livingstone played for a long career as a football player for Celtic FC, Everton FC and Tranmere Rovers FC. After hanging his shoes, he became a trainer.
Livingstone was a coach of the Irish football team (1951-1953) before becoming Belgian coach as successor to Bill Gormlie. He joined the team for the World Cup in 1954 in Switzerland where Belgium was eliminated in the first round. After the World Cup, Livingstone left the Belgian national team with 13 matches on the training bench.
Newcastle United FC drew Livingstone in 1954 as a trainer. At his arrival there was still skepticism about his tactics that were in stark contrast to that of his predecessor but Livingstone led the team in his first season to profit in the FA Cup. However, he was not happy with the driver's influence on sports policy, and Livingstone left the club in 1956. He still drove to Fulham FC where he remained two season trainer.
