Henri de Dion


Count Henri de Dion (Montfort-l'Amaury, December 23, 1828 - Paris, April 13, 1878) was a French engineer.

The Dion designed the Langon bridge together with Eugène Flachat. In 1854, he restored the Bayeux Cathedral with his brother Joseph-Louis-Adolphe. Station van Delicias te Madrid

He built several railway bridges in Spain and the Delicias Station in Madrid. In 1862 he built a sugar factory in Guadeloupe.

His specialty was the strongest. He taught classes and one of his students was Gustave Eiffel.

The Dion returned to France in 1870 and built redevelopments at Champigny during the war while he was under German artillery fire. La France in hangar Y

He designed metal constructions for the 1878 World Expo but died before they were completed. Parts of them were later used for a hangar for airships (Hangar Y) in Meudon.

The Dion died at the age of 49. He is one of 72 names on the Eiffel Tower.
