MCB (or MCB Monark) is a Swedish motorcycle brand, belonging to the Volvo Group today, and also known for the Monark motorcycles.

MCB Monark-Crescent AB, Varberg.

Swedish factory, which probably made its first motorcycle in 1913, but only in 1920 began the series production. From 1920 to 1927, they were sold under the name Esse and had a 172cc Blackburne engine in a bicycle frame.

In 1927, the brand changed to Monark. There were models from 98 to 596 cc and in the war also a 998 cc V-twin. Some models had their own engines, some of them came from Sachs, ILO or other two-stroke vendors, and the heavier models had Blackburne blocks.

In 1936, more attention was paid to the light two-strokes. During the war, Husqvarna / Albin blocks were used to make army engines. Over the years, brands such as Nordstjerman, Hermes and Apollo came under the guard of the brand.

In 1960 NV was acquired. From that moment on, only the name MCB was used. In recent years, models of 50 to 123 cc were built with Sachs- and Franco Morini two-stroke engines, known mainly under the name of Monark.

From the Monarch factory in Varberg, from 1957 to 1963, monsterscoots were exported to the Netherlands. In 1975 the production was terminated. MCB belongs to the Volvo Group today. Monark is also known for outboard engines and bicycles, but later also provided engine blocks to Sachs and Franco Morini. The outboard engines also connect Monark to Crescent, which made outboard engines that were ultimately used in 500 cc and side racing.

Monark currently uses motorcycles for military use. Externe link
