Trichofagie

Trichophagia is the compulsive eating of her. It is derived from the Greek words ἡ τρίχος, the trichos "hair" and φαγεῖν, phagein "food".

Usually, long hair is chewed while still stuck, which is then swallowed. The hair can accumulate in the gastrointestinal tract and cause symptoms such as indigestion and stomach ache. A vomiting may then be administered to release the bezoar (hairball). If this fails, an operation is necessary.

In November 2007, surgeons reported that a 4½ kilogram hairball had been removed from the stomach of an American 18-year-old woman from Chicago who suffered from trichophagia. Also see Externe link
