Cordillera del Antitilíbano

Mount Hermon, seen from Mount Bental. Satellite image of Lebanon. The area covered with snow on the right, the smaller of the two, corresponds to the Antiliban mountain range.

The Antiliban mountain range (in Arabic, جبال لبنان الشرقية Jabal Lubnan ash-Sharqi) is between the countries of Syria and Lebanon, being the natural border between them.

It runs from north to south, parallel to the coastal strip of the eastern Mediterranean and the Lebanese mountain range, from which it is separated by the river al-Biqa '. The highest peak is Mount Hermon, with 2814 m, located on the border between Israel, Syria and Lebanon.

The average height of the mountain range is generally higher in the northern area, decreasing as it heads south where it eventually converges with the Golan Heights, a region currently controlled by Israel, mostly claimed by Syria and in a small area (Shebaa Farms) by Lebanon.
