Estrecho Pendleton

The narrow Pendleton is located in Antarctica, north of the Antarctic polar circle. This separates Lavoisier Island (called Serrano by Chile) with Renaud Island, parallel to the Antarctic Peninsula, which are part of the Biscoe Islands.

The French Antarctic Expedition of 1908-1910, under the command of Dr. Jean B. Charcot, according to his conception of the morphology of this area, applied the name Pendleton Bay in January 1909. The British Antarctic Expedition of 1934 -1937, commanded by John Rymill, recognizing him as a strait, he called him Captain Benjamin Pendleton, Commodore of the Whaling Fleet of Stonington, Connecticut, which included the sloop "Hero", commanded by Nathaniel B. Palmer who, under the direction of Pendleton, he explored this area in January 1821. In some Chilean letters of 1947 he figured as Burdick Canal. Strait located between Renaud Island and Serrano Island, limited by the N by the Espinoza reef and by the S by the rocks and islets that the Cape Leblond gives off, with a navigable width of 7 miles.
