FARO. Flemish support for cultural heritage

FARO. Vlaams Ondersteuningspunt voor Culturele Erfgoed vzw was founded on January 1, 2008. It is the merger and successor of Cultural Biography Vlaanderen and the Flemish Center for Folk Culture. The support center is located in Brussels. The most famous activity of FARO is the coordination of the annual Heritage Day.

FARO is an intermediary organization, ie, it is a broker between the Flemish government, which defines and designs heritage policy, and on the other hand the cultural heritage field: museums, archives, heritage libraries, hymn circles, public cultural organizations, expertise centers, etc. The organization provides strategic and practical support to the cultural heritage sector. That also means that FARO does not provide grants. FARO received three important tasks in the Cultural Heritage Heritage Decree (2007, revision in 2012):

FARO is housed in Priemstraat 51, 1000 Brussels, Belgium. Externe link
