James Chance

James Chance (born as James Siegfried, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, April 20, 1953) is an American singer and saxophonist and acts as one of the leading no wave artists who began their career in the late 1970s.

Initially, Chance founded the noiserock band James Chance & amp; The Contortions on. Brian Eno selected this band as one of the four acts that appeared on the legendary compilation album No New York, which also featured work by Lydia Lunch, DNA and M.A.R.S. appeared. After the No Wave flow disappeared in his short life, Change became more and more focused on free jazz and free improvisation. The band led to a messy existence with many occupation changes, partly due to the difficult character of the colorful foreman.

With Lydia Lunch, he founded Teenage Jesus and the Jerks in 1976.

After about 2000, the Contortions have been rebuilt and Chance regularly raises in Europe and in the United States.
