The Pyongyang-Kaesong Expressway (Hangeul 평양 - 개성 고속도로, hanja 平壤 - 開 城 高速 道路) is a 170-kilometer four-lane highway that runs from the site of the former hamlet of Panmunjeom to the inter-Korean border. to the Rakrang district of Pyongyang. It is part of Asian Highway No. 1, connecting Japan and Turkey for more than 20,000 km.

It is commonly referred to as the "Reunification Highway" and follows National Highway 1 over much of its Kaesong to Kumchon route. Its construction began in December 1987 until its opening to traffic in 1992. This highway, comprising twelve tolls, passes under eighteen tunnels and crosses 84 bridges. The maximum speed allowed is 110 km / h.

At the exit of Pyongyang, the highway passes under the Ark of Reunification.
