Alone Tonight

Alone Tonight is a song of the British group Genesis pertenciente to its album Duke of 1980. It is one of the two exclusive compositions of Mike Rutherford for this album, the other would be "Man of Our Times".

The two songs are ballads and could be leftovers from the first album as soloist of the guitarist, Smallcreep's Day, also published in 1980. The feeling of loneliness is accompanied by simple lyrics, and the melody (especially the chorus) can be touching, but the song is easy to forget, and that is exactly what happened to her. The group did not take her to the stage and remained confined to this album, so both "Alone Tonight" and "Man Of Our Times" are considered fillers on the album.

As for "Man Of Our Times" he has a stronger feeling, with an inventive Phil Collins drummer, including the use of two hi-hats. It was also not performed live and did not have a great impact among the group's followers, but it is remembered for its recurring chorus "Tonight, tonight", similar to "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight" of the song of the same name in the Invisible Touch album. 1986.
