Bendik Singers


The Bendik Singers group was a Norwegian quartet of voices, with a theme by composer Arne Bendiksen participating in the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest.

The group consisted of Anne-Karine Strøm, Ellen Nikolaysen and the brothers Bjørn and Benny Kruse. Their interpretation of Bendiksen's Å for et spill song at the Melodi Grand Prix held in Oslo on 17 February 1973, was chosen like the representative of Norway in the Festival of the Song of Eurovision 1973, that was celebrated in Luxembourg the 7 of April. Before the Festival the song was translated to English, with words and phrases in other European languages, and renamed "It's Just A Game". The song finished seventh in a total of 17 countries, being among the top 10 things Norway could not do since 1966.

In 1974, Anne-Karine Strøm won the Melodi Grand Prix as a soloist with the song "The First Day of Love", the choirs were made by Anne Lise Gjøstøl and the Kruses brothers. Ellen Nikolaysen represented Norway in 1975 at the Eurovision Song Contest, and Strøm returned in 1976.
