Darkwing / Drake Mallard is the main character in the Darkwing Duck animation series.
Drake Mallard is, during the day, an ordinary citizen who becomes, at night, Darkwing, the resident superhero of the city of San Canario. He possesses in equal amounts a mixture of altruism and courage with a gigantic ego and arrogance, and these are the elements of his personality that constantly enter into direct conflict during his adventures. Its origins are confusing and contradictory. Several episodes tell different versions of how his crusade began, because the creative staff of the series deliberately chose not to fully clarify this point. Darkwing does not possess superpowers, and instead - just like Batman - it depends on his cunning, martial training and cutting-edge technology to solve the cases. He is often clumsy, stubborn, and unable to notice the most obvious evidence even when he is on his nose, but unlike other leading heroes with a similar archetype, once he puts his flaws aside, he is a capable and effective.
