Northeast China Plain

The Northeast China Plain (東北 平原, Simplified Chinese: 东北 平原, Pinyin: Dōngběi Píngyuán), also known as the Manchuria Plain, is located in northeastern China. It is located between the Great Khingan and the Lower Khingan and the Changbai Mountains. With a total area of 350 000 km ², it is the highest plain of China, with an elevation of less than 200 meters. The Songhua River, Nen River, and Liao River flow through its vast and fertile land. This plain includes Songnan anorte, Liaohe to the south and Sanjiang plain to the northeast.

The area is suitable for mechanized agriculture and huge areas are planted with wheat, corn, soybeans, rice, sugar beet and sunflower. There are very few trees in this landscape, usually poplars in long rows along the roads, or on both sides of the railways. In addition, there are not many fences in the landscape, although there are many fences of wood or stone adjacent to the houses. There are also many wetlands, vast swamps, and many areas that are subject to flooding.

The Songliao plain (松遼 平原, simplified Chinese: 松辽 平原, pinyin: Sōngliáo Píngyuán) is the part of the northeastern plain found in Manchuria.
