Antonia Papegaaij

Antonia Papegaaij (1719 † 1811) was married to Cornelis van Hombroek and after his death in 1787 together with Cornelis van Nievervaart and Martinus van Nievervaart, owner of the glory of Asten. Cornelis van Nievervaart also owned three factories.

These individuals originated from rich Dordtse families. They owned the castle until 1811, but in the meantime the French had abolished the delicious rights, although some of them were still maintained. Pieter Losecaat has tried to defend the interests of the gentlemen against the Bataavse Brabanders. However, the profit from the glorious rights halved between 1750 and 1808. In addition, the castle, which was rented to rich people because of hunting law, was now no longer attractive because this right had expired. Therefore, the value of the estate decreased significantly.

Now the men and the city council of Asten threatened to prosecute each other, which would entail high costs. The gentlemen tried to sprout the pastor, Wilhelm van Asten, with presents, but they had through and steadily supported the efforts of the government. When the men demolished their hunting grounds with border posts, they were excavated by the city council, which was rewarded with them.

In 1811 it was sold well to Dirk Cornelisz. Vos, who was owner until 1822, and also came from Dordrecht. Also see
