Herwig Van Hove


Herwig Van Hove (Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe, April 24, 1939) is a Belgian physicist, who is mainly known for his publications on wine and beer gastronomy and as a television chef.

Van Hove is a civil engineer in the chemistry of education. After graduating from the University of Leuven in 1963, he remained active in obtaining a doctorate in applied sciences. After his doctorate, he worked as a researcher at the university, where he became a professor. He remained active until 2002. However, in the general public he became known by his publications on gastronomy. From 1978 he worked as a wine journalist at the magazine Knack. From 1992 he was on television. He presented with Felice the 1000 second cooking program, in which Van Hove had to prepare a dish in 1000 seconds. The program lasted for more than ten years.
