A mineral oil is a liquid byproduct of the distillation of petroleum from crude oil. A mineral oil in this regard is a clear, colorless oil typically composed of alkanes (typically 15 to 40 carbons) and cyclic paraffin. It has a density of about 0.8 g / cm³.

Mineral oil is a substance of relatively low price and produced in large quantities. Mineral oil is available in light and heavy grades. It has many uses. Most are used as lubricant, refrigerant or for their electrical properties. Basically there are three kinds of refined:
