Range Rover Classic

A Range Rover Classic

The Range Rover Classic is the first generation Range Rover produced by Land Rover and introduced as a model in 1970. The production was stopped in 1996. The second generation Range Rover is known as the P38A and the current generation is known as simply " the new Range Rover ".

The first Range Rover was equipped with a 135 hp (101 kW) version of a Rover V8 gasoline engine. This 3.5 liter (3528 cc) engine was later replaced by a 3.9 liter (3947 cc) around 1990 and a 4.2 liter (4197 cc) around 1992. Until 1988, these engines were fitted with a carburetor, followed by an electronic injection . From 1986 there were diesel engines available. First a 2.4 liter (2393 cc) I4 VM diesel, and later the 2.5 liter (2499 cc) in 1989. From 1992, a 200Tdi turbodiesel could be chosen in 1992, followed by a 300Tdi in 1994.

The Great Divide Edition was launched in 1990. Of this limited edition, only 409 were produced between 1990 and 1991, nine of which were used for promotional purposes and 400 were placed on the market. The name came from the Great Divide expedition in 1989. The cars all came alpine white and, besides all the options available at that time, were fitted with a unique sorrel brown leather interior.
