Biagio Rebecca

Biagio Rebecca (1735-1808) was an Italian painter, active mainly as an al fresco decorator in England. Born in Rome, his learning is unknown. In England he was known for his neoclassical scenes on mythology, collaborating with Robert Adam, for example at the Harewood house and at Kedleston Hall. He also decorated the Heaton Hall in Prestwich, near Bury, Lancashire. He also frescoed the roof of the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, East Sussex. With Angelica Kauffmann, she painted the old reading room of the Somerset House, home of the Royal Academy of Arts. His son, John Biagio Rebecca, was a renowned architect. Sources
