Daoíz County

Daoíz County is a Spanish noble title granted by Queen Elizabeth II to María del Rosario Daoíz and Torres, in memory of her brother Luis Daoíz, Captain of Artillery.

Rosario Daoíz was the sister of Luis Daoíz, one of the heroes of the May 2 uprising, who died in 1808. Both belonged to an aristocratic family, although they lacked their own nobility title.

The name Daoíz is originally from the Navarrese town of Aoiz, from where the paternal family of Luis and Rosario originated. Listing of the Counts of Daoíz
