Ethnographic Museum (Antwerp)

The Ethnographic Museum in Antwerp was an ethnographic museum with the emphasis on non-European peoples. The museum collection included over 30,000 objects, of which about 2500 were in the exhibition. These include arts and crafts from various cultures in Africa, America, Asia and Oceania. In addition to images from the South Pacific, African masks, rain forest extermination and pre-Columbian cultures, there were Asian sculptures and paintings, ceramics and weapons in the museum.

The museum building at Suikerrui 19 was closed on 28 June 2009 and the collection was moved to the new urban museum of Antwerp, the MAS (Museum on the Stream). This was opened to the public on May 17, 2011. Also see 51° 13′ 15″ NB, 4° 23′ 54″ OL
